Note: This article is by Peter G. James, who talks about harnessing personal greatness: “Greatness is doing great things with little, achieving great things with little, and accomplishing things that serve great purposes through personal situations in life.”
Now let's take a closer look at the word greatness. Before you say, "I don't believe in greatness. The world is full of ordinary people," let's define greatness first. I can only speak from my personal experience.
Apart from anything else I've done in my life, my greatest accomplishment has been fatherhood. I am the father of three amazing young men who, with my wife's help, have exceeded my greatest hopes and desires. As their father, I am very proud of them.
‘Greatness consists in doing great deeds with little means and the accomplishment of vast purposes from the private ranks of life.’ – Dr Russell H. Conwell
5 Ways to Use Your Personal Greatness
I don't know how greatness is measured, but everything is insignificant to me compared to my parental role. To help you, let me reveal to you five ways that I believe will help you use your personal greatness, whether you have children or not:
1. Achieving the purpose of your existence
You and I both have talents, blessings, or strengths. It doesn't matter what term you use to define your unique qualities and what makes you special. To understand these things clearly, we must first delve deeply into discovering them. Once we discover them, we can use them in a way that brings joy to us and to others.
We serve the world best when we do what we were born to do and achieve the purpose of our existence. However, we must have the courage to reject what others dictate to us and face life's adversities and financial pressures, so that we can live the life we want.

2. Enhancing your natural abilities
Have you heard of raw talent?
Each of us is born with this gift and only through life and repeated practice do we hone and enhance this gift.
Many of us have gone through challenges, such as rejection, disappointments, failures, mistakes, and misdirection. Recall that fire gives steel its strength and that flame purifies gold.
3. Perfection of implementation
We have to be excellent at the little things in life before we can excel at the big things. How can you expect to be in control of the things that you have the most influence over if you can't even keep your car clean?
How can you expect to manage the budget of a large company if you can't even manage your own? How can you be trusted with a significant leadership role if you can't even finish a task perfectly, like cleaning the house or emptying the trash?
Master the small tasks and you will gain the skills necessary to gain respect and take responsibility when you carry out larger tasks with the same spirit of excellence.
4. Keeping promises
If you promise to do something, do it even if it's not appropriate right now. You should be honest if you don't want to do it in the first place. You distinguish yourself from other people when you align your words and actions. Honesty is not as important as it once was in our age.
Don't accept it for yourself and keep your word. Call that person you said you would call back. Be there on time or a little earlier. If you promised something and forgot about it, do it as soon as you remember without any delay.
5. Persevere in achieving greatness
If you want to invest in your personal greatness successfully, do not give up your dream of being great and accomplishing great deeds. One does not achieve greatness easily. Otherwise, the earth would be full of great men and women.
In Conclusion
Hold on to your dream, keep setting goals, keep learning, and never back down from moving forward in pursuing your passion and proving your excellence in your daily activities. Even when challenges intensify to destroy your dreams, stand firm like a rock. With perseverance, dreams will come true.
